Abstract

A nonlinear Thomas‐Fermi dielectric function is derived for semiconductors in the framework of the Resta model. When the concept of an effective impurity charge is introduced to ensure the correct screening radius, the analytical dielectric function agrees excellently with the exact numerical solution.
