A long distance alignment technique is developed using the combination of a single-mode optical ÿber and a phase plate. The characteristics of the di raction pattern of a Gaussian beam passing through a step phase plate are analyzed theoretically. The feasibility of the method is validated in theory

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
We apply an algorithm for phase retrieval from single‐distance data which takes nonlinear corrections into consideration in a perturbative way. Schwinger regularization is used for the inversion of the transverse Laplacian, and the applicability of the algorithm is demonstrated employing simulated data.
