✦ Synopsis

AbstractnThis paper discusses the use of simulation Analysis in continuous time econometric models. Continuous time models are formulated as nonlinear systems d dlsequWbrium difl'eventbd equations. They are linearized for estimation purposes (FIML). However slnmlaticm analysis is carried out with the original nonlinear system. Such an analysis provides useful insights on the properties of the model which are not always understandable from estimation and qualitative analysk. Examples derived from alternative financial liberalization regimes in the Italian econon~, are provided.

Simulation of object-oriented continuous time models requires solution of differential-algebraic equations. ## Abstract Econometric duration analysis has become an important part of methodology in econometrics, bringing forth a plenty of applications. The probability distribution of the duration of a time span is modelled through its conditional hazard rate given the covariates. When some of the covariat

This paper compares the properties of a structural model-the London Business School model of the U.K. economy-with a time series model. Information provided by this type of comparison is a useful diagnostic tool for detecting types of model misspecification. This is a more meaningful way of proceedi
