✦ Synopsis
The author observes quadrupole splitting in ferrous and ferric picrates. Picric acid is a secondary explosive. He recommends that surface dependence of recoil-free fraction with ferric picrate could be studied. "Philosophy of I&search : New Projects in Mbssbauer Spectroscopy of Systems with Weak Magnetic Interactions", by Mulay, gives a brief survey of the subject. "Superparamagnetism and Mdssbauer Spectroscopy: A Review and New Results on Iron Dispersion", by Collins, Dehn, and Mullay. In this paper the authors give considerable information concerning cluster size and r&ax&ion time. "The Electric Field Gradient Tensor", by Collins and Travis, is a very useful and important contribution for accounting for ligand strengths in molecular physics or chemistry. Goodman has described on-line computer techniques. He discussed relative advantages of toohniques for interfacing the Mossbauer spectrometer and computer. A system with three spectrometers and a time-sharing computer is described. Walker and Lee have reported Miissbauer effect in decay of Coulomb excited nuclear levels of lBoGd, ls*Er, and 17*Yb. gR for leaEr is determined. Parlow has observed the effect in 133Cs and isomer shift for some compounds of Cs and Ba. Ruby has vividly described present status of experiments with antimony. Kistner has reported Mossbauer effect in 89R~, which is produced by (p, ~z) reaction. Hafemeister and Shera have reported Mijssbauer effect in 40K produced by (n,y) reaction.
In the new Mossbauer states, the authors have described the special experimental arrangements used by them, and they have suggested some special fields of applications.
