A new oxychloride, BiSeO 3 Cl, is obtained at 3003C from a mixture of BiOCl and SeO 2 as large colorless crystals. Roomtemperature single-crystal X-ray investigation combined with an SHG test point to a noncentrosymmetric structure (space group P2 1 2 1 2 1 , a ؍ 6.353(2), b ؍ 7.978(3), c ؍ 8.
Structures and nonlinear optical properties of dimethylcroconate (DMCC) and dibenzoylcroconate (DBCC) are reported. The SHG active DMCC crystal packed in non-centrosymmetric P2 1 2 1 2 1 space group. The DBCC crystal has a host-guest structure and crystallized in centrosymmetric P2 1 /n space group.
