Theoretical analyses and experimental studies have been carried out on the nonlinear hydroelastic vibration of a cylindrical tank with an elastic bottom. In this paper, a linear axisymmetric free vibration analysis of the bottom plate of the tank, coupled with the liquid contained is presented. In the analysis, the effect of an in-plane force in the plate due to the static liquid pressure is taken into account. Numerical calculations were carried out for nine kinds of bottom plates with different thickness and materials. The effect of the liquid contained on the bulging-type natural frequency and the influence of the bottom plate motion on the sloshing-type natural frequency were investigated.
