Abstract

The transmission of a thin semiconductor platelet is studied by solving Maxwell's equation together with a rate equation for the exciton concentration. The concentration induced exciton broadening serves as nonlinear mechanism. Numerical results for the diffusion‐controlled concentration profile in the sample are presented. As a second case, the temporal transmission lineshape of a Gaussian input pulse is calculated and compared with our experimental results on CdS. The hysteresis phenomenon found is interpreted in terms of a transient effect.
