โฆ Synopsis
The question of the vanishing of renormalization constants Z, and Z, as conditions for compositeness is looked at once more both from the viewpoint of dispersion theory and field theory. Careful consideration is given to the formulation of the idea of a composite particle as one for which there exist no independent parameters within the theory. The theory of a pseudoscalar field coupled to a spinor field is examined in detail and it is shown that Z, -+ 0 and Z, + 0 give the condition for equivalence to a theory in which the pseudoscalar particle is purely composite. It is unlikely however that these limits provide a ready realization of the conditions for a bootstrap situation.
