-The (-)Ag/a-AgI/C( +) system has been investigated by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) under cathodic (-) and anodic (+) polarization. The impedance diagrams showed charge transfer behaviour at high frequencies and a Warburg-like behaviour at intermediate frequencies. Transfer function analysis was carried out on the basis of a reaction controlled model which includes a charge transfer step involving an activated Ag* + species in the interfacial region of a-Agl. This activated species is assumed to transform chemically to the Ag* species in a normal lattice site. * Materials Research, Mars-grade, 99.999%. ' Ringsdorf, GK 506, 99.999%.
