✦ Synopsis

Non-linear resonant three-wave interactions of sound waves are considered. The method of coupled modes is used to derive the amplitude modulation equations. Explicit solutions in terms of Jacobian elliptic functions are given for the case in which the energy exchange among the three sound waves is periodic.

## Abstract We present several stability/instability results for the ground‐state standing waves and high‐energy‐bound‐state standing waves for the NLKG, NLS and NLDW equations. At the end of the paper we present a number of open problems. Copyright Β© 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

A standing wave in front of a seawall may reach a height more than twice of its incident component. When excess pore pressure occurs, it may even induce seabed instability, hence endangering the structure. This issue was studied previously using only linear wave theory. In this paper, standing-wave
