✦ Synopsis

The problem considered is to determine the rate of absorbtion in laminar liquid films for the case of first order chemical reactions taking place in the film. The high reaction rate is the reason for the formation of a very thin concentration boundary layer and hence high concentration gradients. This is equivalent to an additional momentum transfer and the corresponding secondary flow results in non-linear effects in the convective mass transfer. This problem has been solved supposing that the film thickness is much smaller than the length of the film, non-linear effects ha&g been accounted for.
