✦ Synopsis
The behavior of non-isothermal catalyst particles under selective deactivation is examined. The catalyst particle production rate, which is represented by an effectiveness factor plot, is seen to increase with decay in certain cases. In addition, multiple steady states, not present with fresh catalyst, can arise at certain intermediate stages in the deactivation. Dimensionless plots are given which allow rough estimation of effective particle activities with very little a priori data.
