Environmental effects on crack Initiation In bollw t W . (Cow ference Paper). Corrosion fatigue is one of the main causes of boiler tube failures h fossil fuel power plants As part of a wide-ranging study into the phenomenon, lnboratory investigations have been performed to examine the e(lects of some rnrironmntal variables on aadc initiation. A test method was developed to apply fatigue bading to a section of boiler tubing filed with fbwing water at appropriete chemistry, pressure and temperature. The test uses fun size tubing materials p m duced to meet the speafication SA210-Ai which is widely used for waterwall hrbes. The results show that oxygen and pH are major factors that influence the wmsh fatigue behaviour of the steel. Photomicrographs, Graphs. 13 ref.
