This invention relates to a seal to be used with a trocar for introducing surgical instruments, guidewires, dilators, catheters or similar instruments into a patient. The seal is in a closed, or sealed, position when no instrument is inserted in the seal, when the seal is in an unstressed condition.
This patent describes a mold (1) for the production of plastic lenses that incorporates a tubular gasket (2) to surround the mold. The lens surfaces are formed by the top and bottom molds (3,4). An elastically deformable triangular projection band ( 5) is integrally formed on the inner peripheral su
unit before it is assembled into a string. It is often necessary to fit the seal in an area where it may be gripped for screwing together tubular units. This patent describes a split seal, which can be fitted to a tubular unit after assembly. A variety of clamping methods are also covered.
