The "Chermcal Reactzon Englneerlng" group OK the European Federation of Chermcal Englneerlng appolnted a sub-conmuttee In 1976 to prepare a proposal for unlfylng the nomenclature and symbols used In chemcal reactlon englneerlng. This sub-co-ttee, composed of J. Vlllermaux (Nancy), president, U. Hoffmann (Erlangen), C.N. Kenney (CambrIdge) and N.H. Schoon (Gothenburg) got down to work and subrmtted their first, essentially pragmatic, proposal for the approval of the working party In 1977.
Thesergommendatzons
were sent to all authors of papers for ISCRE 6 asklng them to adopt the proposed nomenclature.
Eiany authors did make this effort thus contrabutlng to glvlng a certain unity to the two volumes of published proceedings of the SympOSlum.
Other authors, sonetlmes with good reason, did not adopt the recowmendatlons and remalned faithful to their old conventrons.
