✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A photonic microwave filter based on fiber loop and fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) is applied in a radio‐over‐fiber (RoF) system to suppress the relative intensity noise (RIN) of laser and the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise of erbium‐doped fiber amplified (EDFA). The experiment results show that the signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) of the system can be effectively improved by using such a noise filter in the system. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract We have experimentally demonstrated a radio‐over‐fiber system transmitting 2.5 Gbt/s orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals carried by 40 GHz millimetre ‐wave. The 40 GHz optical millimeter wave signals were generated by a directed modulation laser driven by the 2.5 G
