✦ Synopsis

This paper presents a review of the geometrical method for calculating the sound level distribution caused by noise sources of various shapes, i.e. a point source, a line source, and a plane source. It is useful for practical noise control in the incoherent sound fields.

Noise reduction by an acoustic barrier of a straight line source is examined with the aid of scale model experiments. The line source used in these experiments is an incoherent line source mechanically radiating broad band noise. From the experimental results a curve can be deduced which shows a rel

This paper proposes and investigates a new structure for the unbiased separation, tracking, and enhancement of uncorrelated sources by a linear array. The structure consists of a matrix preprocessing beamformer followed by an adaptive linear combiner and a postprocessing beamformer. The weights of t

The literature reveals no equation that expresses the influence of the diffysional boundary layer on diffusion-controlled sorption of dyes or other material by polymeric substrates from finite baths. In view of this mathematical void, a technique is proposed that approximates dimensionless sorption
