โœฆ Synopsis

Three methods of measuring diamagnetic susceptibilities are compared with respect to sensitivity.

(1) The balance method is limited in sensitivity by thermal noise with a signal to noise ratio SNR of 3 x 108.

(2) The inductance method is limited by the Nyquist noise with an SNR of 5 x 104.

(3) The magnetometer method is very insensitive with an SNR of 40 due to Barkhausen noise.
