✦ Synopsis
A theoretical analysis of the performance of a tubular solar still for nocturnal production was made based on the effect of brine flow rate, still length, initial brine temperature and other system and climatic parameters. Expressions for brine outlet temperature, glass cover temperature, hourly and daily yields etc. have been deduced from energy balance equations for the tubular solar still. The analysis was validated experimentally by the authors for a special case of a tubular solar still and was found to be in good agreement with the empirical results of Tleimat and Howe [ 11.
