✦ Synopsis
Reported herein are the syntheses of N,N 0 -dimethylbenzamidine (HDMBA, 1) and its phenyl substituted derivatives HYDMBA with phenyl substituents Y as 3-CH 3 O (2), and 3-CF 3 (3), and the determination of single crystal structures of compounds 1-3. In addition, the crystal structures of the salts of 1 with HBF 4 (1a), oxalic acid (1b), terephthalic acid (1c), and 2 with HCl (2d) are also reported. Interesting configurations and H-bonding patterns due to the orientation of two methyl groups were observed.
