✦ Synopsis

Thallim-proton coupliugs are often large and exteud over array beadu' but 2.3 though Tl-Ii oouplingu through a nitrogen ato have been observed 9 110 coupling through the eeter linkage [~.a. au in T~(OAC)~ aud Tl(OCOCP3),] has been reported. Par emmple, in the case of the l3 CMR spectra of arylthalliu(II1) bis(trifluoroacetates), the abseuce of any 13 C-T1 eoupliug6 atmociat~wfth the trifluorfmcetate ligaadu was pressed to be due to the high ioaie character of the T1-0 boudf.

We report herein the obsevvation of thallim coupliugs5 through the ester liulcage, aud come& upon 8018 of the cousequemce6 of thi6 observation.

An intramolecular ligand rearrangement taking place via a bond-breaking process in the lanthanum(III) complex of triethylenetetraaminehexaacetic acid was probed by dynamic NMR experiments. Evidence that the ligands are exchanging derives from the observation of temperature-and mixing time m -depende
