✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Two 2:1 maleic anhydride–α‐methylstyrene adducts and two naphthalene derivatives were isolated as low molecular weight by‐products of thermal copolymerizations of maleic anhydride and α‐methylstyrene under different conditions. Their structures were deduced by means of ^1^H^1^H and ^1^H^13^C shift correlation NMR spectroscopy. The complete ^1^H and ^13^C NMR assignments are presented.

## Abstract Two‐dimensional INADEQUATE ^13^C NMR was used to establish firmly the carbon‐carbon connectivities present in abietic acid and maleopimaric acid, i.e. the adduct of levopimaric acid and maleic anhydride. This information leads to unambiguous assignments for the 20 and 24 carbon resonanc
