✦ Synopsis
A novel NMR method for determining self-diffusion coefficients by means of a radio-frequency field gradient (instead of a static magnetic field gradienl as is usually the case) has been combined with a suppression technique aimed at eliminating the huge solvent signal, in order to obtain a proper digitization ofthe weak resonances of a low-concentration species. The suppression technique makes use of the inhomogeneity of the normal coil of the NMR probe. This permits an accurate measurement of the self-diffusion coefficient of a solubilizate (hydroxyquinoline) at low concentration in aqueous solutions of micellized sodium dodecylsulfate, and determination of its partition coefficient as a function of@.
