## Abstract The interaction between doxepin, a member of the tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) class of drugs, with β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) was investigated using NMR. Several TCAs have been reported to form a complex with β‐CD having 1:1 stoichiometry. Previous results from UV‐visible spectroscopy, flu

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Guest–host complex between cryptophane C, possessing two non‐equivalent caps, and chloroform is investigated by NMR spectroscopy. The kinetics of the chloroform exchange between the bound and free sites is determined by ^1^H exchange spectroscopy. Moreover, the preferential orientation of chloroform molecule with respect to the cryptophane C frame is examined by the NOESY and ROESY experiments. The experimental findings are compared to the results of quantum chemical calculations. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Quantitative assessment of the ''best fit'' between neutral molecules and the cavity of a ''rigid'' neutral receptor is a challenging task in supramolecular chemistry, drug design, and biology.
