In order to improve combustion efficiency and to reduce pollutant emissions, it is necessary to be able to describe all the stages of combustion of pulverized fuel. In this paper details are outlined on ways in which this can be achieved and particular attention is given to the case of coming coal with natural gas.

The effect of pyrolysis conditions on the release of nitrogen during char combustion was investigated. A fluidized bed pyrolysis unit was used to produce several chars at different temperatures and pressures from a Spanish coal. In this way, a number of chars differing in volatile matter and specifi
