✦ Synopsis
A good correlation was found between apparent BET surface area and total pore volume determined for a number of active charcoals by measurement of the nitrogen adsorption isotherms at 77 K. A similar correlation is also illustrated in which apparent BET surface area is calculated from the uptake of nitrogen at relative pressurep/p'=O.l.
This method is suggested as a rapid means of estimating pore volume in predominantly microporous carbons.
