## Abstract Cotton cellulose was separately oxidized by potassium metaperiodate, potassium dichromate–sulfuric acid, and potassium dichromate–oxalic acid at two oxidation levels, and the resulting oxycelluloses were further modified by treatment with chlorous acid and sodium borohydride in order to
