In vivo microdialysis in conscious rats was used to assess the effect of metabotropic glutamate receptor stimulation on striatal dopamine release. Local application of the metabotropic glutamate agonist (ฯฎ)-trans-1-aminocyclopentane-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (ACPD), via a microdialysis probe, produced a

Based upon the observation that estrogen acts in the striatum to rapidly modulate dopamine (DA) neural transmission and DA-mediated behaviors, it has been postulated that these effects of estrogen are mediated by a specific, membrane-bound receptor mechanism. To further characterize the pharmacologi

## Abstract Hydroxylamine (0.01โ€“30 mM), a nitric oxide (NO) generator, produced a concentrationโ€dependent release of [^3^H]dopamine ([^3^H]DA) from rat striatal slices. Hemoglobin (10 ฮผM), a NO scavenger, reduced basal [^3^H]DA release and blocked hydroxylamine (100 ฮผM)โ€stimulated [^3^H]DA efflux.
