Abstract

A novel one‐pot approach for the synthesis of aryl substituted quinazolin‐4(3__H__)‐ones and 2,3‐dihydro‐4(1__H__)‐quinazolinones has been reported based on the reductive desulfurization of 3‐aryl‐2‐thioxo‐4(3__H__)‐quinazolinones with nickel boride in dry methanol at ambient temperature.
