Humalog cleared for treatment of children and adolescents

The European Commission has approved an important new indication for Humalog (insulin lispro): the treatment of diabetes in children and adolescents. At the same time, the Commission approved the claim by the manufacturer, Eli Lilly and Co, that use of Humalog in subcutaneous insulin infusion pumps reduces HbA 1c more effectively than human regular, or soluble, insulins. Humalog has been approved for use in CSII since April 1998.
