Arguably, the material could be said to be timeless, but there are a lot of books around on this subject with much more upto-date material. In fact the bias towards materials selection is tenuous with a lot of the chapters just reproducing standard materials science. The book despite its intentions is also rather theoretical and may not appeal to practical designers.
