To prevent this happening the bolts and nuts on the QE2 turbines are to be treated with Acheson threadlube. The lubricant, in the form of a soft paste contains solids which provide lubrication during assembly and resistance to high temperature oxidation. The film of solid lubricant between the flanks of the threads prevents metal to metal contact and protects against seizure during dismantling.
