Abstract
A new type of iridium(III) complex [trans‐Ir(ppy)~2~(PPh~3~)~2~]^+^ (1) has been prepared by a novel synthetic method and its structural and photoluminescent characteristics have been compared with those of the cis analogue, [cis‐Ir(ppy)~2~(PPh~3~)(P(OPh)~3~)]^+^ (2) which has also been newly prepared in this study.
