New trans-fused africanols from leptographium lundbergii

✦ Synopsis

Three new sesquiterpene alcohols with africanane skeleton -leptographiol (l), isoleptographiol (L), and isoafricanol (3) -have been isolated from Leptographium lundbergii Lag. et Mel.. Their structures and configurations were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, in particular by nuclear Overhauser enhancement difference 'H NHR spectra and by two-dimensional 'H/lH-and 13C/'Hchemical shift correlation. The biosynthetic origin of 1 -3 is briefly discussed. _
