✦ Synopsis
Rapid methods for the separation of major lipid classes varying in polarity from cholesterol esters to lysophosphatidylcholine are presented, which were used forthe analysis of extracts obtained from human sera.So1vent systems for lipid separation by overpressured thin-layer chromatography and thin-layer chromatography are described. These techniques are suitable to separate unsaturated and saturated cholesterol esters according to the number of carbon atoms, double bond numbers of their fatty acid contents. Fourteen lipid fractions may be separated using two successive developments in the same direction.
