PTFE seals pass Norsok standard

OmniSeal materials have achieved qualification to Norsok M710 standard for the 'Qualification of non-metallic sealing materials and manufacturers'.

OmniSeals are used in safetycritical applications, in ball valves as double piston effect (DPE) seals in valve seats, and also to reduce fugitive emissions as environmental valve stem seals. Other applications include valve body/bonnet seals, butterfly valve seats, downhole tools, cryogenic swivel seals and other critical equipment for subsea use. S-G engineers worked closely with specialist outside labs to qualify the materials. The aging test in the qualification process, where materials were subjected to extreme temperatures and high percentages of H 2 S, gave new insights into the PTFE compounds' properties. The metal energizers are NACE-approved materials for use in sour gas conditions.
