โœฆ Synopsis

Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE) has installed a new molding machine, producing seals up to 2 m in diameter for the marine engine, oil & gas, nuclear and power generation industries.

Weighing 122 tonnes, the 500 tonne variable down-stroking press took 10 months to build and customize to the specification required, including a vacuum chamber to eliminate air traps. Elastomer parts up to a depth of 380 mm can be produced.

The company has also upgraded its website, to assist in seal selection.

It now provides guidance on both chemical compatibility and O-ring size selection by means of a groove dimension look-up 'wizard'. This will permit engineers to identify the best fit standard O-ring for the application and print off a full dimensional drawing.
