β¦ Synopsis
New photosensitive polymers were derived from glycidyl cinnamate with which methylmethacrylate-methacrylic acid copolymer (I) or an acid anhydride (II) was allowed to react. The product from (I) showed better photosensitivity than that from (II) from the point of view of insolubility in tetrahydrofuran. Infra-red spectroscopy can be used to follow changes during irradiation. * Methacylic acid unit contents in the copolymer were 26.6 molto in A-4, B-I', and 43.4 mol % in C-I respectively. ? At reflux temperature. :~ In dimethylformamide at 25Β°C. Β§ Catalyst: tetramethylammonium chloride. II Degree of esterification. * M: maleic anhydride. "t P: phthalic anhydride.
These polymers were soluble in tetrahydrofuran and acetone.
