We have isolated cycloseychellene I from the essential oil of Poaostemon Benth. cablin and have shown that it is related to seychellene (1,2) II, in the same way as sativene is related to cyclosativene (3).

β¦ Synopsis
Four new patchoulol derivatives, 8a,9a-dihydroxypatchoulol (1), 3a,8a-dihydroxypatchoulol (2), 6a-hydroxypatchoulol (3), and 2b,12-dihydroxypatchoulol (4), were isolated from the aerial part of Pogostemon cablin (Labiatae), together with nine known compounds, sesquiterpenoids 5 -8 and flavonoids 9 -13. Their structures were elucidated by detailed spectroscopic analysis, using 1D-and 2D-NMR techniques.
