β¦ Synopsis
Chemical Reaction Engineering has been very successful in developing a set of powerful concepts and tools, and solving many important industrial problems. The future brings many new problems that need solution, and many new tools that should be mastered. As old problems become well-investigated and mature, and old tools are less capable of producing exciting advances, it would be time for a renewal. If the maturity of the technologies that we serve can be compared to the four seasons of the year, we need to provide a balanced service between the Spring and the Autumn. We should also remember that deep Winter can be rejuvenated into Spring by a new internal idea or a new external challenge.
