Based on Abel's generalization of the binomial formula, we introduce a new type of normalized generalized binomial Ž .

states M , p,q qs 0 corresponds to the ordinary binomial states , which are characteristic of a different photon emitting probability for a different energy level of an excited molecule undergoing M level vibrational relaxation. The photon number distribution and squeezing property of the new states are discussed. It is shown that q plays an essential role in displaying highly nonclassical behaviors.
