Evonik's new vegetable-based emulsifier, Tegocare PSC 3 (proposed INCI: polyglyceryl-3 stearate/citrate), combines mildness, efficacy, versatility and low-cost advantages with smooth and caring aesthetics. Applicable for a wide pH range, it allows green preservation with organic acids. Also new from the company is Anti Soft SC, a multipurpose liquid thickener for foamers. The ingredient helps minimize dehydration due to the use of surfactants. It also enhances the texture and smoothness of the foam. Evonik also promoted Isolan GPS, a vegetable-derived PEG-free emulsifier that provides excellent emulsion stabilization at concentration levels of 2-3% or higher. Isolan is well suited for use in W/O lotions, specifically those with low oil content, since it imparts a non-oily feel to the end-product.
Zschimmer & Schwarz introduced Ecocert-approved cleanser Protelan AG 8-E, featuring anti-acne, antidandruff and deodorizing properties. The multi-functional additive effectively controls sebum on the skin surface. The firm also offers Protelan AG 11-E, another multipurpose cleanser that provides anti-dandruff and conditioning action, making it well suited for hair care applications. It also presented new data for its Oxypon range of emollients, emulsifiers and co-emulsifiers [Focus on Surfactants, Aug 2006]. These products can be used for the cold processing of vegetable oils, helping to produce stable and rich cold-processed emulsions. By comparison, acyl glutamates allow production of light and silky cold-processed emulsions.
