β¦ Synopsis
In this paper, we applied the Exp-function method to solve the Kawahara equation. This method can be used to obtain new exact solutions and periodic solutions with parameters are obtained. It is shown that the Exp-function method, with the help of symbolic computation, provides a very effective and powerful (mathematical tools) for discrete nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics.

Assas [Laila M.B. Assas, New exact solutions for the Kawahara equation using Exp-function method, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 233 (2009) 97-102] found some supposedly new exact solutions to the Kawahara equation by means of the Exp-function method. Unfortunately, they are incorrect. We emphasize that the

The exp-function method is used to find exact solutions of the generalized nonlinear heat conduction equations. The results obtained include all the solutions from the open literature as special cases.
In this paper, we consider the nonlinear evolution equations such as Kawahara equation and modified Kawahara equation. By using the tanh method and an exp-function method, the travelling wave solutions for the these equations are presented. New exact travelling solutions are explicitly obtained with
