✦ Synopsis
We show that the !ower energy redon of the doubly.excited, autoionizing helium spectrum below theN= 2,3,4 ioniz&ion thresholds can be fitted empirically bp a single three-parameter function using recently derived group theoretic quantum numbers from an SO(4) Lie algebra. The accuracy of the results suggests for helium a possible hidden symmetry which may origjnate from a noncompact group.
