โฆ Synopsis
New crosslinkable polymers (polyimides, polyamides and polyureas bearing maleimide, nadimide or itaconimide pendant groups) were prepared and characterized. The polymers were prepared by reacting 2,4,6-tris(4-aminophenoxy)-s-triazine with an equimolar amount of maleic/nadic/itaconic anhydride followed by reaction of the resulting monoamic acid with pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA), terephthatoyl chloride (TEC) or tolylene diisocyanate (TDI). Reference polymers were prepared for comparative purposes by reacting 2,4-bis(4-aminophenoxy)-6-phenoxy-s-triazine with PMDA, TEC or TDI. Crosslinking of polymers was investigated by differential thermal analysis. It was shown by dynamic thermogravimetric analysis that all crosslinked resins were significantly more heat-resistant than the corresponding reference polymers. Thermal stabilities of crosslinked polymers with respect to the structure of the backbone were in the order polyimide > polyamide > polyurea; with respect to the structure of the pendant groups, they were in the order maleimide > nadimide > itaconimide.
