โœฆ Synopsis

he control of corrosion in oil and gas processing T is a broad subject, covering a vast array of engineering fields and scientific approaches. The cathodic protection specialist who analyzes closeinterval survey data from a 15-year-old pipeline rarely encounters the petroleum engineer who specifies corrosion-resistant alloys for a new subsea platform operation. In today's economy, however, I find that engineers who drastically diverge in technical expertise agree on some general principles of corrosion prevention-the importance of monitoring and risk-based inspection. As my NACE (NACE is the Corrosion Society) colleague Dan Efird, from Enercor International, explains, "The more accurate your corrosion monitoring, the more reliable your risk-based decision."

. . . more accurate your corrosion monitoring, the more reliable your risk-based decision.

## Abstract It is well know that formation of a passive oxide film on aluminum can enhance its corrosion resistance. However, microbiologically species are able to damage this film. Microbial adhesion is widely accepted as important stage prior to the induction or initiation of biocorrosion. Pseudo
