His Letters Patent have received the Great Seal. Lord Schon's knowledge of the intricacies of financing scientific research and technological development is based on his own experience of establishing a profitable chemical industry. Lord Schon has been a Member of the NRDC since 1967. The Minister of Technology appointed him Chairman of the Corporation on 1 March 1 969, following the retirement of Lord Black of Barrow in Furness.
