β¦ Synopsis
When a Japanese pump manufacturer became concerned about strong vibrations and the shorter lifetime of the bearings of its vertical mixed pumps used in seawater applications it looked for a more effective solution. A change to rubber bushings made with Green Tweed's ARβ’1 material, with its excellent dry-run characteristics and high abrasion resistance, not only improved pump efficiency, but improved bearing performance capability through reduced clearances.

The strain energy density is considered as a measure of the stiffness/flexibility of the composite structure. A methodology for determining the stationary points of the strain energy density in anisotropic solids is developed. The methodology proposed is based on new problem formulation, derivation
