✦ Synopsis

organometallic methods. A test was conducted where a mixture of methane and propane was converted to ethane at 250Β°, with almost 100% selectivity. The results indicated that methane can replace hydrogen to cleave carbon-carbon bonds, saving costs and providing environmental benefits. The new catalyst may impart a process for the converting methane to more valuable products.

80 patents are pending relating to the process. Researchers have been able to make the ethanol yield as much as 60 gallon/litre concentration during fermentation. In addition, the process consumes less enzymes. The technology can be adapted to local feedstocks such as bagasse, straw, or bran. Althou

Aqueous-phase reforming (APR) of real biomass was studied for production of hydrogen gas. Wheat straw, an abundant by-product from wheat production was used as representative lignocellulosic biomass. Wheat straw was hydrolyzed in an environmentally benign-sub critical water condition. APR experiment
