✦ Synopsis
The direct thermo-AAS method using a graphite or quartz-lined graphite sample cup and a hydrogen-argon or acetylene-air flame was used in the evaluation of the volatility of metals from complex matrices in the temperature range (50-2000^{\circ} \mathrm{C}). The thermo-AAS principle was employed to solve problems related to toxic metal emission from high-temperature technologies. The volatility of tin in PVC matrix, cadmium in sewage sludge, thallium in cement technology, and lead in pigment is discussed in parallel with reference measurements. O 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
